About Placer County Historical Society

Our Purpose

To promote interest in the history of Placer County; to discover, collect and make accessible historical facts, to mark  places of historical interest, and to sponsor the Placer County Museum.

Placer County Historical Society Dinner Meetings

Regular dinner meetings are held the first Thursday of February, April, June, October, and December.

Dinner meetings start at 6:00 pm at Veterans Memorial Hall, 100 East St,. Auburn. After dinner our guest speaker often covers an interesting aspect of local history.

You can help us by nominating a person to be our dinner speaker. Please submit the name, contact info and brief description of why you think this person would be a suitable speaker: Email:


We have a new reservation policy for dinner! Please read below. 

Short version: 

  •  RSVP to

  •  Note if you are requesting a special meal. Vegetarian or gluten free only.

  •  Indicate how many people

  •  State how you are paying – Venmo or cash/check at the meeting

  •  Pay through Venmo at placer-historical-society

  •  Include name and number of people on Venmo

Dinner is 20.00 per person. You are always welcome to come for the speaker only, no admission charge.
