The Committee for the Preservation of Auburn Regional History was formed in 1988, to record the past history of Auburn, and resulted in the book, "Auburn, A Century of Memories". From there, an interview guideline was established. Realizing the need for preservation of these memories, before all was forgotten, the committee expanded its scope to include all of Placer County. From that beginning, the PCHS has accumulated approx. 200 interviews of "old timers" and not so old timers, which preserve the memories of the past. These are put on tape, transcribed and then placed in the Auburn Placer County Library where they are available to the public. This is an ongoing project, under the chairmanship of Betty Samson.
